Record breaking Markham rack up over 100 points in win over Cwmcarn United

Markham came into their 3rd game of the season, off the back of a home defeat looking to bounce back against Cwmcarn United. They certainly did that.

Markham were in rampant mood, scoring two tries from the first two kickoffs. No 10 Grant Pearce passed to Sid Bacca who ran away from defenders for the first score, the second the ball was passed wide to Lewis Hughes who cut inside then passed out to Dewi Carpenter to make the score 14-0 in the first three minutes. Everyone fancied a chance running with the ball, Hywel Jones smashing through before offloading to George Braines who sprinted away for try number three. Markham's fullback repeated his brilliant score a few weeks back against Forgeside, sprinting away from defenders to secure the bonus point try. Cwmcarn tried to build phases but were very sloppy with the ball, which spilled into Andrew Peters hands for the fifth try.

Markham's backs were having a superb game, with slick handling leading to another try for Carpenter, Cwmcarn got their first points of the game with a penalty. Markham remained ruthless scoring another five tries before half time; Peters getting a brace after an offload from Iwen Edwards, the ball was recycled out wide and great supporting lines were awarded with two tries from Dan Price, Lewis Hughes and Man of the Match Alex Morgan, the home side were waiting for the half time whistle before Ashley Roberts broke a tackle and powered away down the right sideline to make the score 76-3 at half time.

Markham went on to score nine more tries in twenty minutes in the second half, before the referee blew the whistle for full time. Markham's fullback grabbed a brace, Dewi Carpenter grabbed a hat trick, Sid Bacca completed his hat trick, George Braines got a brace of tries, Grant Pearce got a second try, Alex Morgan completed his hat trick with two darting runs down the side line, Markham's number eight added another try to complete a rout and give Markham their biggest ever victory.

A much needed confidence boosting win ahead of a big cup clash next week away to West Mon in Pontypool.
